Texas’ Dominic Espinosa, a junior-to-be from Cedar Park, has been named to the watch list for the Rimington Award, which is presented annually to the nation’s top collegiate center.
The 6-foot, 4-inch, 300-pound Espinosa has started all 26 games over the past two seasons for the Longhorns. Last season, Texas averaged 35.7 points and 434.6 yards per game with Espinosa anchoring the interior of the line.
Espinosa is the fourth Longhorn to be named to preseason watch lists. The others include cornerback Quandre Diggs (Paul Hornung Award), quarterback David Ash (Maxwell Award) and defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat (Bednarik Award).
The watch list for the Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end also was released Tuesday. No Longhorns made that list.
