New coach Kliff Kingsbury has two quarterbacks competing for the starting spot to replace Seth Doege.
Sophomore Michael Brewer, a Lake Travis High graduate and the son of a former Texas Longhorn quarterback, is in the running, along with redshirt freshman Davis Webb. They were the top two after spring drills.
Kingsbury said he’ll allow the two about two weeks of competition in August to determine the winner. He compared the timetable to the situation he was in last year, when Kingsbury was the offensive coordinator at Texas A&M. The Aggies needed about two weeks to determine that Johnny Manziel was the top choice over Jamielle Showers.
