Brown among ‘most intriguing’ coaches for 2013

Posted July 29th, 2013

Who’s No. 4 on the list of most intriguing college football coaches for 2013?

Why, that would be Mack Brown.

In a list compiled by Pat Forde of Yahoo! Sports, the Longhorns’ coach makes the top five of most intriguing coaches to watch in 2013.

Says Forde:

One of the giant figures in the game has been cut down to ordinary size the past three seasons, going 22-16 in that time after a nine-year run of double-digit victories. Brown believes his program is back as a national contender this year. It needs to be, or the end of his Texas tenure might not come on his terms.

The only more intriguing coaches than Brown, according to Forde, are Alabama’s Nick Saban, Ohio State’s Urban Meyer and Oregon’s first-year head man Mark Helfrich, in that order. Other coaches of regional interest include Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin (No. 7), Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops (No. 11) and Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy (No. 17).
