The Longhorns announced this morning that senior defensive tackle Ashton Dorsey has decided to transfer.
The brief release from UT:
“Longhorn senior defensive tackle Ashton Dorsey has elected to transfer, head coach Mack Brown confirmed on Tuesday. Dorsey played in 30 career games at Texas, starting six.”Advertisement
The timing is odd, obviously, coming just four days before the season opener against New Mexico State. Brown said Monday that Dorsey, who was not listed on the two-deep roster, hadn’t practiced recently because of a calf injury.
The Longhorns still have depth at tackle. Sophomore Malcom Brown and senior Chris Whaley are the starters, while junior Desmond Jackson is a solid backup. Coaches also have high hopes for redshirt freshman Hassan Ridgeway, a converted end.
