Texas running back Johnathan Gray and defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat were honored Monday as Big 12 players of the week for their performances in the Longhorns 31-21 victory over Kansas State.
Gray earned offensive honors. He rushed for a career-high 141 yards and scored two touchdowns. He also had two catches for 14 yards to give him a career-high in all purpose yards. Thirteen of his carries came on first down. He gained 61 yards on those. He also had 102 of his yards in the second half after Longhorn quarteraback David Ash was ruled out of the game with concussion symptoms.
Jeffcoat shared defensive honors with Baylor defensive back Terrell Burt. Jeffcoat had five tackles, two sacks and two quarterback hurries. Jeffcoat’s two sacks came on K-State’s final two drives.
