Longhorns Jackson Jeffcoat and Anthony Fera have been named the Big 12 Conference’s players of the week for their roles in Texas’ 30-7 victory at TCU.
Jeffcoat, the senior defensive end, won the defensive honor after recording a sack, 2.5 tackles for losses, two pass breakups, three quarterback pressures and four overall tackles. He also helped pressure TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin into a fumble forced by Quandre Diggs and recovered by Adrian Phillips that led to Texas’ first touchdown and a lead it never relinguished.
Fera booted field goals of 43, 37 and 36 yards, giving him 11 successful kicks in 12 attempts this season. The senior from Cypress also averaged 40 yards on seven punts. TCU returned only one punt, for minus-3 yards.
Offensive player of the week is Oklahoma State running back Desmond Roland, who in his first career start rushed for 219 yards and four touchdowns in the Cowboys’ 58-27 victory at Iowa State.
