As expected, UT regents approved Steve Patterson on Monday morning to be Texas’ next men’s athletic director.
Here are some details on Patterson’s contract:
Contract length: It’s a five-year deal that ends on Aug. 31, 2019.
Salary: Patterson will be paid $1.4 million each year, with a minimum annual increase of 2.5 percent.
Incentives: There are incentives. If neither the NCAA nor the Big 12 find any major infractions, Patterson will get a $100,000 bonus — each year that the program stays clean. And if the athletic department remains financially solvent, it’s another $100,000 bonus each year.
And there are perks:
Cars: Patterson will get two courtesy cars provided to him. Or, if he chooses, he can get an annual $7,500 car allowance in place of the courtesy cars.
Clubs: He also gets automatic and free membership to the UT Club, the UT Golf Club and the Headliners Club.
Suites: Patterson now gets an AD suite for home football, men’s basketball and baseball games.
