Texas updates: Johnson will play against Baylor

Posted December 2nd, 2013

Some updates from today’s media availability and press conferences with Mack Brown and assorted players:

The return of Daje: Sophomore tailback/receiver Daje Johnson, who missed the Texas Tech game with a suspension for breaking team rules, will play against Baylor. Brown said Johnson would be involved in the punt and kicking game.

No bowl for Edmond: Starting linebacker Steve Edmond, who suffered a lacerated liver against Texas Tech, already has been ruled out for Saturday’s game. But Brown said Monday that Edmond also will miss the bowl game.

Other injuries: Junior linebacker Kendall Thompson has shown symptoms of a concussion. He’s considered day to day.

Cochran’s future: Brown said right tackle Josh Cochran, who played Thursday on goal-line and short-yardage plays as either a down lineman or tight end, opted to play again this season rather than try to petition for a sixth year from the NCAA.

Brown said Cochran will return for his senior season.
