Alamo Bowl: Getting to the game

Posted December 30th, 2013

Today’s Texas-Oregon Alamo Bowl game is expected to be a sellout. That, coupled with the fact that there’s construction going on in downtown San Antonio, means if you’re going to the game, you need to give some thought to parking and transportation.

Parking at the Alamodome is available only by pre-purchased permits. There’s not any parking available onsite today.

The best options, according to bowl officials, are to park at one of four VIA Park & Ride spots:

(1) Airport Park & Ride, 1326 Northern Blvd., east of the cell phone waiting lot.

(2) The AT&T Center, 1 AT&T Center parkway, 78219.

(3) Crossroads Park & Ride, 151 Crossroads Blvd.

(4) Madla Transit Center, 1584 Cantrell.

For $2.50 each way from 2-10 p.m., VIA shuttles will drop fans off at the north Alamodome entrance. There’s also a downtown route that makes several stops and drop-offs at the Alamodome for $1.20 each way.

There also are open lots downtown, particularly on the Cesar Chavez, Houston and Commerce exits along I-281/I-37.
