Texas place kicker and punter Anthony Fera will play in the East-West Shrine Game, UT announced today.
Fera will join Longhorns cornerback Carrington Byndom in the annual all-star game. They’ll play for the West. Byndom had previously announced he would play.
The game is Jan. 18 in St. Petersburg, Fla. It’ll be televised on the NFL Network.
Fera, a Lou Groza Award finalist, hit 20 of his 22 field goal attempts this season, including a streak of 15 consecutive that tied Phil Dawson’s school record, set in 1996 and 1977. Fera’s career 90.9 percent field goal accuracy ranks second on UT’s all-time single-season records list.
Fera also averaged 40.7 yards on punts.
The last Texas kicker to play in the East-West Shrine Game was Hunter Lawrence, after the 2009 season.
