New Longhorns football coach Charlie Strong is scheduled to speak at an introductory press conference at 11 a.m. this morning.
University officials announced Sunday that Strong, 53, who has spent the past four seasons with Louisville, will be the Longhorns’ 29th football coach.
He and his family arrived in Austin on a private plane Sunday afternoon.
Strong will receive a five-year contract worth approximately $5 million annually, two Texas sources said. However, all contracts must be approved by the UT System Board of Regents.
At Louisville, Strong amassed a 37-15 record, including 23-3 the past two seasons. Louisville was Big East Conference championships in 2011 and 2012 and was 3-1 in four straight bowl game appearances, including a victory over No. 4 Florida in the 2013 Sugar Bowl. Strong was named Big East Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2012.
