Texas officials have given junior college forward Obie Oleka a full release from his national letter of intent signed in November, the school announced late Monday.
Oleka, a 6-7 sophomore at State College of Florida, was expected to enroll at Texas this summer.
As a freshman, Oleka averaged 10.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game on a team that finished 6-26. Oleka has not played in a game for State College since mid-December, according to the team’s box scores.
“There were some issues and concerns that developed over the course of this year, and it is in the best interest of both the University of Texas and Obie that he be allowed to pursue other opportunities,” Texas coach Rick Barnes said in a statement.
