Texas men’s coach Rick Barnes is excited about plans for a four-team, three-city road trip that was unveiled earlier this week. For him, December 2018 can’t get here fast enough.

Officials at Texas, North Carolina, Michigan State and Florida have all verbally agreed to participate in a three-game, round-robin format. The games would be played over an eight-day span, and all four teams would travel together on a single chartered aircraft.

Texas officials confirmed earlier this week that no formal contract has been signed, though.

“I like it a lot. It’s something different,” Barnes said Friday. “I’ve always liked being part of different things, and I think this is going to be a great educational experience. All these coaches obviously know each other, too. But it’s just something different.”

The first stop is Madison Square Garden in New York. Then, the teams would play again at the United Center in Chicago. The finale would be at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Along the way, the teams would visit historical landmarks, like the 9/11 exhibit, and even visit Disneyland. Presumably, ESPN cameras will be there to capture every moment.

“It’s going to be something at that point and time will captivate college fans and sports fans in general, because we’re going to see soothing for the first time,” Barnes said. “The places we are going to are great. We’re going to cover it from East to West. So I think it’s great.
