If you’ve always dreamed of playing ball for Darrell Royal, then your time might have finally come.

A casting call will be held Saturday for “My All American,” a feature film about the life of former University of Texas football player Freddie Steinmark and the National Championship-winning 1969 Longhorns football team, according to a news release from Brock/Allen Casting. The film, which will recreate “The Big Shootout” game between Texas and Arkansas, will shoot in the Austin area this summer. The casting call will be held at the football field at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex at 10211 W. Parmer Lane. Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the call is expected to last three hours or longer. Those auditioning should wear workout gear and bring grass football cleats.

The casting agency says it is looking for primarily Caucasian actors to recreate the Texas team, as well as other college and high school teams that will be featured in the film. Actors should have football experience, be able to play between the ages of 18 and 25 years old, be at least 6 feet tall and weigh more than 180 pounds. Actors cannot be currently playing on a high school or college football team.

The casting agency also says it is looking for an experienced actor around 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing less than 160 pounds to portray Steinmark.

According to the casting agency, “My All American” will tell Steinmark’s story, from high school in Colorado to his Longhorn career and his death from cancer in 1971. Angelo Pizzo, a writer and producer credited on both “Rudy” and “Hoosiers,” is slated to direct.
