Texas athletic director Steve Patterson was just appointed to the board of directors of a company focused on the acquisition and operation of medical buildings.
Healthcare Trust of America, a publicly-traded real estate investment trust, announced Patterson’s appointment in a news release this week.
“We enthusiastically welcome Steve Patterson to HTA’s Board of Directors,” HTA chairman Scott Peters said. “He has a tremendous track record with a diversified business background and brings a wealth of relationships that he has developed over the years. Steve will be a key asset for HTA as we continue to develop and expand our company in the coming years.”
University employees are permitted to serve on boards of outside organizations, provided they report it to school officials, according to a school spokesman.
Generally, most private companies have boards that meet randomly throughout the year, and positions like this are not considered full-time jobs.
According to the company, HTA has acquired a portfolio of 14.1 million square feet of leasable property in 27 states. The company trades under the ticker HTA on the New York Stock Exchange.
HTA is based in Scottsdale, Ariz. Patterson, who has deep ties to the business world, came to Texas after working as the athletic director at Arizona State.
