Another rocky start for Texas offense

Posted November 14th, 2015

After Texas freshman Davante Davis intercepted a pass from West Virginia quarterback Skyler Howard, the Texas offense had another dismal three and out.

The interception gave Texas solid field position at the West Virginia 48, but they could not capitalize.

On third down, Texas center Taylor Doyle snapped the ball to Jerrod Heard far before he was ready. Heard was still looking at the sideline for the play call when Doyle snapped the ball. After a few seconds of confusion, Heard luckily picked up the fumble allowing Texas to punt the ball on fourth down. West Virginia could have easily fumbled the ball.

One of the biggest concerns coming into today’s game was starting strong, and this certainly was not a sign of that.

On the following offensive possession, Texas took a  3-0 lead following a 31-yard field goal by Nick Rose. The kick came after a holding call negated a Jerrod Heard touchdown run.
