West Virginia scores its fourth touchdown of the day as quarterback Skyler Howard finds Daikiel Shorts in the end zone, putting the Mountaineers up 28-17 in the third quarter.
On the ensuing kickoff, the Horns gave up another fumble. This time Kris Boyd dropped the ball on the kickoff return, giving West Virginia great field position deep in Texas territory.
The Texas defense was able to step up and stop West Virginia on third and goal thanks to a huge block by Malik Jefferson to end the third quarter.
West Virginia made the 19-yard field goal on fourth down to secure a 31-17 lead at the start of the fourth quarter.
