Beaumont Central running back Devwah Whaley committed to Arkansas over Texas at Saturday’s Under Armour All-America Game in Orlando, Fla.
Whaley’s announcement came immediately prior to the game on ESPN2.
Whaley, a four-star prospect according to 247Sports’ Composite ratings, was previously committed to Georgia but backed off after the school fired coach Mark Richt. Whaley is the No. 14 player in the American Statesman’s Fabulous 55 of the state’s top senior players.
Texas does not have a running back among the 12 pledges in its 2016 class.
Later in the game, North Mesquite four-star offensive tackle Jean Delance will make his announcement and he’s expected to choose Texas or Michigan.
