Texas Longhorns women’s swimming and diving team defeats Arizona 154-146

The Texas Longhorns women’s swimming and diving team posted nine victories in 16 events to defeat the Arizona Wildcats 154-146 in Tucson, Ariz. on Friday.

The fourth-ranked Longhorns got three wins from Madisyn Cox to secure the narrow victory over No. 14 Arizona.

Joanna Evans picked up the first win of the day for Texas, finishing the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9 minutes, 58.94 seconds. She later won the 500 freestyle in 4:49.17.

The Longhorns finished 1-2-3 in the 200 freestyle, led by Cox who finished in 1:48.42. Evans took second in 1:49.05 while Quinn Carrozza finished in 1:49.36 for third place.

Tasija Karosas won the 100 backstroke in 53.93 in addition to taking the top spot in the 200 backstroke in 1:56.82.

Remedy Rule finished the 200 butterfly in 2:02.09 for first place just ahead of Maggie D’Innocenzo.

Meghan O’Brien won the 1-meter diving event with 275.48 seconds while teammate Meghan Houston earned second with 267.45 points. O’Brien took second in the 3-meter event with 294.15 points.

Cox got her second win of the day with a 2:12.71 finish in the 200 breaststroke before she finished the day with a win in the 200 individual medley in 2:01.06.
