Adrian Colbert will transfer from Texas

Posted February 17th, 2016

For the second time this week, a Texas defensive back has announced he’ll transfer.

This time it’s safety Adrian Colbert, who tweeted on Wednesday that he’ll graduate in May and play his senior season elsewhere.

Colbert’s announcement comes two days after cornerback Bryson Echols said he’ll be seeking a new school as a graduate transfer.

Colbert, of Mineral Wells, started four games in 2014, but got lost in the shuffle last season. Though he played in all 12 games, Colbert did not make a start and did not make a tackle.

The loss should not have a major impact for the Longhorns, who return safety starters Dylan Haines and Jason Hall and reserves P.J. Locke and DeShon Elliott. Joining them are newcomers Brandon Jones, the nation’s No. 2 safety from Nacogdoches, and Chris Brown of Alief Elsik.
