No. 2 TCU men’s tennis edges Texas 4-2

No. 18 Texas rallied from a 3-0 deficit to get within a point, but TCU’s Alex Rybakov beat Harrison Scott 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 at No. 2 singles and clinched the match for the No. 2 Horned Frogs 4-2 on Saturday at UT’s Weller Indoor Tennis Center.

TCU has won 16 straight matches and is 20-2 this season and 3-0 in Big 12 play.

The Longhorns lost the doubles point and went down 3-0 after singles loses by George Goldhoff and Michael Riechmann.


Texas redshirt freshman Julian Zlobinsky edged TCU’s Trevor Johnson in three sets 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 and Adrian Ortiz cut the lead to one with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Eduardo Nava.

Rybakov trailed in the third set against Scott, then rallied to win it 7-5.
