Instant reaction: Horns blanked 3-0 by OSU in game one of doubleheader
Posted April 30th, 2016
Where it went wrong: In the fifth, Texas starter Morgan Cooper walked the leadoff batter and then couldn’t handle a sacrifice bunt. That put two on with no outs, and Oklahoma State scored its lone run that inning without hitting the ball out of the infield.
The starter: Cooper had one of his better outings of the season, tying a career-high in strikeouts with eight. He went six innings, which also matched his career-high, and allowed just two hits. His only costly miscues came in the fifth, which are explained above.
Top hitter: Travis Jones, 3-4.
Key Stat: OSU starter Thomas Hatch retired nine batters in a row before Travis Jones singled in the sixth. Hatched worked a complete game and lowered his ERA to 1.52.
Next: 6:05 p.m. Saturday vs Oklahoma State.
