Posted May 20th, 2016

TULSA, Okla. — With the team score knotted 3-3, Texas had a chance to extend its charmed run through the NCAA tennis tournament but fell to No. 5 Ohio State in a tiebreaker at sixth singles.

Unable to dig out of an early three-point hole, UT’s John Mee fell 7-3 to Martin Joyce. The Buckeyes advance to face No. 13 California on Sunday.

Texas got singles wins from No. 1 George Goldhoff, No. 2 Harrison Scott and No. 4 Michael Riechmann.

Goldhoff, the hero of a Round of 32 win over Texas A&M, knocked off OSU’s top-ranked Mikael Torpegaard in straight sets, 7-6, 6-0.
