Olympic champion Michelle Carter highlights hall of honor class

Michelle Carter, the shot put champion at the Rio Olympics, is among five former Longhorn women who will be inducted into the school’s hall of honor.
Announced Friday, the women’s class includes Carter (track & field 2004-07), Edna Campbell (basketball, 1989-91), Andrea Hayes (swimming, 1986-90), Lucie Ludvigova Schmidhauser (tennis, 1993-95) and Terri Turner (track & field, 1983-86).
Inductees on the men’s side are LaMarcus Aldridge (basketball, 2004-06), Leonard Davis (football, 1997-2000), Aaron Peirson (swimming, 2002-04) and Aaron Ross (football, 2003-06). Vintage selections Jimmy Blacklock (basketball, 1971-72), Walter L. “Buddy” New, Jr. (baseball, 1961-63) and Davis Love, Jr. (golf, 1953-55) and special selection John Bianco (media relations, 1992-present) round out the class.
The class will be formally inducted Oct. 14-15.
