Houston coach Tom Herman: ‘I’m done chasing down erroneous reports’
Posted October 26th, 2016
Tom Herman is done.
On Tuesday, the Houston coach was asked about rumors linking him to the Texas job, and he didn’t hold back. Mark Berman, the sports director at FOX 26 KRIV in Houston, posted a video of his response on Twitter:

The only people I’m concerned about are the hundred and so players I’ve got in our locker room. We’re good. We’ve had some really good, open, honest conversations that stay within our family.
I’m done being the media police. I’m done chasing down erroneous reports. I’m done putting out statements to refute bogus information. That’s not my job. My job is to concern myself with the players on this team and get them ready to win a football game.
Herman has been the hottest coaching name in college football this season as multiple Power Five coaching jobs have come open and several more coaches find themselves on the hot seat. Now in his second season leading the Cougars, Herman led the American Athletic Conference team to a Peach Bowl win over Florida State and began the 2016 season with an emphatic 33-23 win over then-No. 3 Oklahoma.
However, Houston has struggled in recent weeks — losing to Navy on Oct. 8 and to SMU on Oct. 22.
That hasn’t stopped people linking him with potential openings at Texas, LSU and USC as rumors continue to swirl around the college football landscape.
Based on all the true, half-right, wrong, bogus info headed our way, just remember there are rogue Texas "insiders" who are total nobodies.

But for now, Tom Herman is still the coach at Houston. And he’s done.
