Kerwin Roach, Tevin Mack suspended for exhibition game

Graduate transfer Mareik Isom also sidelined after ankle procedure

Posted October 31st, 2016

Texas coach Shaka Smart said sophomores Kerwin Roach and Tevin Mack will be suspended for Wednesday’s exhibition game against Angelo State.

Smart said both players are suspended for an undisclosed violation of team rules, but the incident happened “months ago.”

Smart would not say whether both players will be cleared for the season opener against Incarnate Word, only that both players would “return soon.”

“There’s a standard that we have to set and uphold in our program if we want to be successful,” Smart said.

Also on Monday, Smart said graduate transfer Mareik Isom had arthroscopic surgery on his ankle and will be out possibly two weeks.

With the suspensions and Isom injury, Texas will likely dress only seven scholarship players against Angelo State, Smart said.
