Texas linebacker Malik Jefferson being checked for a concussion

Posted November 13th, 2016

Sophomore linebacker Malik Jefferson’s status for Texas’ upcoming game against Kansas is uncertain.

The American-Statesman’s Kirk Bohls reported on Sunday that Jefferson is being evaluated for concussion symptoms. Jefferson left the first quarter of Saturday’s 24-20 loss to West Virginia with a head injury, and he did not return.

The preseason pick for the Big 12’s defensive player of the year award, Jefferson ranks second among the Longhorns with his 60 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Jefferson was pulled from Texas’ starting line-up two weeks ago, but he responded with solid showings in back-to-back wins over Baylor and Texas Tech.
