On the same day it fired Charlie Strong, Texas hired Tom Herman to lead its football program.
Herman, 41, is the 30th head coach for the Longhorns. He went 22-4 in two seasons at Houston, and he was the offensive coordinator on Ohio State’s 2014 championship team. Herman was also a graduate assistant at Texas from 1999-2000.
Texas football players posted their reaction to Strong’s removal on their Twitter accounts this weekend, but they were also welcoming of their new coach. Here are some tweets from the Longhorns:
