Texas regents planning Saturday meeting to approve Tom Herman’s contract
Posted November 29th, 2016
The University of Texas System Board of Regents is tentatively planning to hold a special meeting to approve coach Tom Herman’s contract at 4 p.m. Saturday, a university spokeswoman said.
The Associated Press first reported that a meeting was happening this weekend. No official agenda has been posted yet, as required by state law.
The UT regents must approve any contract that is more than $1 million or requires a multi-year commitment. Herman has agreed to a five-year deal worth more than $5 million initially and it rises to more than $6 million by the end of the term.
UT regents also usually approve assistant coaches contracts, but those may not be ready in time for a special meeting this week.
