Who was the ‘Big 12’s best’ in 2016? It has to be D’Onta Foreman

Posted December 23rd, 2016

D’Onta Foreman lost his national rushing title because Texas didn’t play in a bowl game, and the Longhorns’ 5-7 record likely cost him a trip to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist.

But when it came to the “Big 12’s best” — the Austin American-Statesman’s annual list of the conference’s best players — Foreman took the top spot, hands down.

The Doak Walker Award winner was placed ahead of Oklahoma quarterback and Lake Travis alum Baker Mayfield and his teammate, wide receiver Dede Westbrook.

Another Longhorn, sophomore left tackle Connor Williams, also made the list. He was placed No. 8, between Oklahoma State stars Mason Rudolph and James Washington.
