Recruits’ impressions of Tom Herman range from ‘swaggy’ to ‘trash’

Posted December 28th, 2016

Some of the nation’s top college football recruits have gathered for the Under Armour All-America game in Orlando.

With so much talent in one place, ESPN senior writer Jeremy Crabtree decided to take a survey of how players feel about some of the sport’s most high-profile coaches. When it came to Tom Herman, opinions were very split.

While some referred to the Texas coach as “fun” and “swaggy,” others preferred terms such as “traitor” and “trash.”

Crabtree also surveyed the recruits about Nick SabanJim Harbaugh, Urban Meyer and Jimbo Fisher.

In other surveys, 18 percent of recruits said fans on social media had impacted their recruitment. According to Crabtree, eight of 81 recruits surveyed said Texas had the most annoying fanbase on social media.

Recruits were also asked whether they had ever caught a recruiter in a lie, and 70 percent said no. However, there were some interesting answers when they were asked to describe what those lies were.

Texas has commits participating in the all-star game, such as running back Toneil Carter, and several more targets including Westlake linebacker Levi Jones. The Under Armour All-America Game kicks off at noon Sunday at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. It will air live on ESPN.
