Casey Horny, who spent nine seasons at Baylor, announced on Twitter on Wednesday that he has been hired at Texas as a special teams quality control coach.

“Heading back to Horn Country to join some old friends. Look forward to bringing trophies back to Austin. Hook ‘Em,” Horny posted.

The Goliad native was a graduate assistant at Texas in 2000 alongside future UT coach Tom Herman. Horny stayed with the Longhorns two more seasons and earned two degrees at UT while working for coach Mack Brown.

Horny worked at Sam Houston State and Trinity before becoming Texas State’s co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach in 2007. At Baylor, Horny’s title was assistant director of football operations in charge of defensive quality control.

While at Baylor, Horny was a staunch defender of disgraced coach Art Briles. He used the hashtag #TruthDontLie on Twitter, which was viewed as a sign of support for Briles after he was fired. Horny also retweeted a Twitter post on Nov. 4 that was the coaching staff’s response to the Baylor Board of Regents.

Horny’s name has never been mentioned in any Baylor-issued report about Briles or the events in Waco.
