Update: Ehlinger became a household name in recruiting circles in the summer of 2015. He led Westlake to a state 7-on-7 championship that summer and received an offer from his hometown Longhorns. It didn’t take him long to commit, and he entered his junior season at Westlake as a future Longhorn. Ehlinger went on to lead Westlake to that year’s Class 6A state championship game, earning individual awards after passing for 50 touchdowns and rushing for 20. He finished his high school career with 81 touchdown passes against just 13 interceptions despite missing most of his senior season with a variety of injuries. Ehlinger enrolled early at Texas and should compete for the starting spot along with 2016 starter Shane Buechele.
