Meet the new Longhorns: Cade Brewer will ‘fit in real nice with Tom Herman’s offense’

Update: Brewer became part of Texas’ plans when Herman took over the program. The need for tight ends was high for Herman, and one of the first targets identified at the position was Brewer, who was committed to SMU. The former wide receiver began to make an impact for Lake Travis as a junior. He learned the physicality needed for the tight end position and blossomed into one of the best weapons for a state championship Cavaliers team that rolled through Class 6A. Brewer is likely an H-Back in Herman’s offense, which will allow him to move around to create mismatches against slower linebackers and smaller safeties. He’s the best pass-catching tight end in the state for the 2017 class.
