Update: Carter took an interesting path to Texas. He committed to Georgia last July and entered last season thinking he’d enroll early at Athens. But recruiting can be a nasty game; Carter found that out the hard way in December when Georgia running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel both decided to return for their senior seasons. Suddenly, the Bulldogs didn’t have room for him in the 2017 class. Carter de-committed on Dec. 19 and was committed to Texas by the end of that day. He was an Under Armour All-American who finished his high school career with three straight 1,000-yard seasons. Carter scored 54 touchdowns in his career and is an early enrollee, so he’ll take part in Texas’ spring practices. He may push for snaps as a freshman. He’s electric in space and can catch out of the backfield.
