Texas men’s tennis knocks off Oklahoma State

Texas (11-2) dropped the doubles point, but got four singles wins to rally to a 4-2 win over Big 12 rival Oklahoma State Sunday in the consolation round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.

The Longhoens men’s tennis team left Charlottesville, Va. with a 2-1 record in the tournament with wins over the Cowboys and Florida.

Freshman Yuya Ito tied the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Artur Dubinski at No. 4 singles.


The Cowboys reclaimed the lead when Julian Cash knocked off freshman Christian Sigsgaard, 6-2, 6-4.

Texas’ Harrison Scott picked up his 11th-straight singles win with a 6-2, 0-6, 6-4 victory over Arjun Kadhe at No. 3 singles.

At No. 6 singles, sophomore Rodrigo Banzer picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Jurence Mendoza and George Goldhoff clinched the win at No. 2 singles, defeating Lukas Finzelberg, 2-6, 7-5, 6-3.

The Longhorns host Wichita State on Friday at the Weller Tennis Center.
