On Tuesday, Texas lowered its ERA to 2.91 in a 9-2 win over Texas State. It also added an arm to its arsenal.
Howard College sophomore pitcher Chris Fearon has announced that he will join the Longhorns. Fearon has earned a save in four of his six appearances this spring. Eleven batters have struck out against the six-foot-one-inch right-hander, who has pitched seven innings for his Big Spring-based Western Junior College Athletic Conference school.

Fearon was actually once considered a rival of Texas since he spent the 2016 baseball season with Kansas’ Jayhawks. Over five appearances and six innings that year, Fearon allowed 14 hits and nine earned runs. A native of Spring, Fearon led Concordia Lutheran to a TAPPS state title in 2015.
