Louisville grad transfer QB Kyle Bolin thanks Texas, commits to Rutgers

Posted April 26th, 2017

The market for a graduate transfer quarterback is getting thinner by the day. On Wednesday, former Louisville quarterback Kyle Bolin announced that he intends to transfer to Rutgers.

The former Charlie Strong recruit was reportedly a target of Tom Herman and the Longhorns, and Bolin thanked Texas on Twitter following his commitment.

Herman has been vocal about his intention to add a third scholarship quarterback to the roster after Matthew Merrick left the program. The Longhorns are actively recruiting former LSU starter Brandon Harris, who would be eligible at the start of the 2017 season.

Bolin was the backup to Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson last fall, and with Jackson still on campus he opted to transfer for his last season of eligibility. He started five games for the Cardinals in 2015 before Jackson eventually won the job.
