The final day of the NFL draft can be host to some bizarre stunts. All the drama of the early rounds is gone, and hearing analysts drone on about “motors” and “arm talent” gets old after awhile.
The Indianapolis Colts decided to get creative this year, and they took former Texas defensive lineman Hassan Ridgeway along for the ride.
Ridgeway spent his Saturday at the Indianapolis Zoo, where he teamed up with an orangutan named Rocky to announce the Colts’ fourth-round selection. No, really. We couldn’t make this up if we tried. Watch below.

A little background: This is the third year the NFL has had all 32 teams reveal their third-day selections in local markets. The Colts hosted a draft party at the zoo — a fitting pair — inside the Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center. Another orangutan, Azy, got in on the act along with third-year defensive tackle Henry Anderson.
For the record, Rocky “picked” Zach Banner, an offensive lineman out of Southern California.
It was a little different than the draft experience Ridgeway had last year, when he was taken No. 116 overall in the fourth round by the Colts. He made 21 combined tackles and 1.5 sacks as a rookie last season. Yet even Ridgeway has to admit, his second NFL draft was a lot more entertaining than his first.
