The buzz around Tom Herman and his team seems to be loud – loud enough to land Texas on the Worldwide Leader’s Way-Too-Early Top 25 rankings.
But the ESPN’s Big 12, post-spring power rankings as the team in the middle of the conference. Texas landed at fifth in the league behind Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas State and West Virginia.
However, the report on the power rankings seems to be positive, as reporter Jake Trotter lauds a “rejuvenated” Shane Buechele:

To be fair, Oklahoma State (No. 6), Oklahoma (No. 8), Kansas State (No. 18) and West Virginia (No. 20) are all ranked higher than Texas in the same way-too-early poll, which may mean that the Big 12 could be set for a strong season in 2017.
