Texas-Ex Brian Orakpo makes NFL’s ‘Top 100 players of 2017’

Posted May 9th, 2017

Nearly a decade has passed since Brian Orakpo last suited up for the Longhorns, but he’s still terrorizing quarterbacks in the NFL.

So much so that Orakpo earned the distinction of being named to NFL Network’s annual list of the league’s top 100 players. Voted on by current players, the list is being revealed in several parts with episodes airing each Monday. This week, Orakpo landed at No. 78.

Orakpo’s eight season may have been his best yet. From his outside linebacker spot on the Tennessee Titans, Orakpo racked up 46 tackles, 10.5 sacks, four passes defended and a forced fumble. He was selected to the Pro Bowl for the fourth time in his career, and landed the top spot on our annual ranking of the top NFL Longhorns.

Now entering his ninth season, Orakpo has solidified his place as one of the top pass-rushers in all of football. That he’s respected by his peers enough to land in the “Top 100” says a lot.
