UT hires company to upgrade ‘Godzillatron’ this summer

Posted May 24th, 2017

The University of Texas has picked ANC Sports Enterprises LLC to renovate and operate the massive video display at the south end zone of Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, also known as the “Godzillatron.”

As part of the $4.5 million project, Purchase, N.Y.-based ANC will work with Mitsubishi Electric to improve the LED display by increasing the pixel resolution to more than 2.7 million pixels, according to a statement from the company.

The video display will be the same size as before, about 56 feet high and 134 feet wide, making it the fourth-largest screen among college football stadiums.

ANC’s other projects include the video display for the Seattle Mariners — the largest screen in Major League Baseball – and video displays for the Cleveland Cavaliers home court and a jumbo screen for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The upgrades to the screen is expected to be completed by late July.
