It’s the first matchup between the schools since the 1975-76 season. Texas currently holds the all-time record against the Rebels at 8-6.
Texas coach Shaka Smart is 1-1 in the Challenge at Texas, beating Vanderbilt in his first season, but falling to Georgia in 2017. Ole Miss went 22-14 overall last season and 9-8 in SEC play.
Texas landed one of the top recruiting classes in the nation after No.2 recruit Mohamed Bamba picked the Longhorns last week to join an already strong crop of new players. Freshman guard Andrew Jones made the roster even stronger when he announced he would return to campus on Monday. Ole Miss, meanwhile, has the No. 20-ranked recruiting class in the nation.
The marque matchup of the Challenge is Kentucky traveling to West Virginia. Meanwhile, Kansas will host Texas A&M and Alabama will welcome Oklahoma. Here is the complete list:
