Let’s use Texas’ roster, history and scouting reports to countdown to the start of the 2017 football season. Today, we are only 85 days away from Texas’ home game against Maryland.

Which Longhorn wears No. 85? WR Philipp Moeller. A walk-on from Plano, Moeller did not appear in any games over his first two years at Texas. Moeller inherited No. 85 in 2015 from TE M.J. McFarland, who spent his senior year at UTEP and recently signed a free-agent deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

Who also wears No. 85? Baylor TE Jordan Feuerbacher (seven catches, 104 yards, two TDs in 2016)

Fun fact about No. 85: Ex-UT QB Randy McEachern completed only 85 passes from 1976-78, but those completions netted 1,564 yards. That average of 18.4 yards is a UT record as is the single-season average of 20.1 yards that McEachern recorded over 45 completions in 1977. (For comparison, Shane Buechele averaged 12.5 yards over his 236 completions in 2016).
