The gunman who unleashed a hail of bullets during a congressional baseball team practice in a suburban Washington, D.C., park early Wednesday struck a staff member for U.S. Rep. Roger Williams of Austin, his office confirmed Wednesday morning. Williams’ office identified the aide who was shot in Alexandria as Zack Barth, a 2015 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
Awful to hear recent UT alum Zack Barth, staffer for @RogerWilliamsTX, was injured in congressional shooting. We wish you a speedy recovery.

I now can confirm that Zack Barth, who is a legislative correspondent in my office, was shot this morning at baseball practice

Williams — who is one of the coaches on the team — was not shot, the statement added, knocking down initial reports the lawmaker was among the injured. Video from the scene broadcast on CNN appeared to show Williams being taken from the field in a stretcher. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was also injured in the attack.
