4-star linebacker Xavier Peters names Texas in top 10 schools

Posted June 16th, 2017

Texas remains in the mix for one of the top linebacker prospects in the Class of 2018.

Xavier Peters, a four-star outside linebacker out of Lakota West (Ohio) High School, included the Longhorns in the top 10 list he released Friday on  Twitter.

Peters is the No. 250 overall prospect and the No. 17-ranked outside linebacker in the 2018 class according to the 247Sports composite. Along with Texas, he is still considering Alabama, Kentucky, USC, Tennessee, Penn State, Florida, Cincinnati, Oregon and Georgia.

Noticeably missing from that list is Ohio State, which tends to land most of the top prospects within its own borders. Peters is currently ranked No. 9 in the state of Ohio, but Cleveland.com reported in May that he had yet to receive an offer from the Buckeyes. That could open the door for an out-of-state school.

Texas currently holds pledges from 11 players in the Class of 2018. Included among those are two linebackers — Byron Hobbs and Ayodele Adeoye.
