The countdown to kickoff is on. Over the 100 days before Texas takes on Maryland, we’re counting down the 100 best players the Longhorns will face in 2017. This series is all about impressing your friends at pregame tailgates and watch parties, so grab a notepad and buckle up.
Who is he?
Nick Orr has been solid as a rock throughout his career for TCU. The second-team All-Big 12 safety returns to the fold for his senior season. He has 26 starts under his belt an a year of chemistry with defensive backfield partner Niko Small. Orr led the Horned Frogs with four interceptions last season, and he made 86 total tackles (47 solo). Watch how he disrupted Baylor’s offense in a 12-tackle performance.
What should the Longhorns watch for?
Orr has been around the block, and playing in the Big 12 he has faced a lot of different offensive schemes and personnel. He’s quick to read and react to whatever opponents throw at him. Tom Herman’s offense thrives on deception, so it will be interesting to see if the Longhorns can get a veteran like Orr off-balance.
Orr had nine tackles against the Longhorns in 2016 and four stops in 2015.
