Countdown to Texas’ kickoff: 67 days

Posted June 27th, 2017

Let’s use Texas’ roster, history and scouting reports to countdown to the start of the 2017 football season. Today, we are only 67 days away from Texas’ home game against Maryland.

Which Longhorn wears No. 67? OL Tope Imade, a 6-5, 315-pound guard who redshirted in 2016. UT fans, do you remember Dallas Griffin? The center wore No. 67 at Texas from 2003-07.

Who also wears No. 67? Kansas State OL Reid Najvar (13 starts in 2016); Iowa State OL Jake Campos (12 starts in 2015)

Fun fact about No. 67: The longest field goal in Texas history was Russell Erxleben’s 67-yard kick against Rice in 1977. Of the six longest kicks in the UT record books, five were booted by Erxleben during that 1977 season. The fourth-best kick — a 59-yarder against Texas A&M — was converted by Erxleben in 1978.
