Texas officials sign marketing deal with Corona Extra

Texas officials allowed beer sales prior to the 2015 season. Now comes some new beer advertisements.

Corona Extra, the nation’s No. 1 imported beer, has signed a marketing agreement with UT officials. It’s the first sponsorship of any kind on the college level for Corona, according to a news release.

The tagline “Horns up, Limes in!” will be seen at football, basketball and baseball games. Corona will also sponsor a responsible drinking campaign and use the school’s logos and trademarks in point-of-sale, social, digital and advertising materials.

“Texas is proud to join with the Corona Extra team to promote the excitement and pageantry of collegiate sports,” UT athletic director Mike Perrin said in a statement.

Said John Alvarado, vice president of marketing for Corona Extra, “Corona is honored to be a part of the legendary Longhorns lore, and we’re excited to raise our Coronas and Hook ’em Horns this season as part of a statewide platform.”
