No surprise here. Fresh off the best punting season in Texas football history, junior Michael Dickson was named to the 2017 Ray Guy Award watch list, the Augusta Sports Council announced Wednesday morning.
Last season, Dickson was the Longhorns’ first finalist for the award which has been given to the college punter of the year since 2000.
The native of Sydney, Australia, averaged a school-record 47.4 yards per punt in 2016. He downed 28 punts inside the 20-yard line, and booted a career-long 74-yarder that qualified as the highlight of the Longhorns’ drab season finale against TCU.
Dickson has also been named a preseason All-American and All-Big 12 by Athlon Sports.
